Description
It looks like this monarch butterfly is enjoying the shade as it eats some nectar from a Lantana flower cluster. I took this during the summer season at a local park in Springfield Missouri, United States. The monarch butter fly is a milkweed butterfly in the Nymphalidae family. Other common names include milkweed, common tiger, wanderer, and black veined brown. It's one of the most familiar butterfly in North America and is considered an iconic pollinator species. It's wings are black and orange with a little bit of white.
