Description
A black American swallowtail butterfly lands on marigold flower bloom at a garden in Springfield Missouri, United States during a summer morning. The butter fly, also known as Papilio polyxenes, are found throughout North America. It is the state butterfly of Oklahoma and New Jersey. Marigold is the English name but they are known as tagetes which is in the sunflower Asteraceae family. Here in the Ozarks they bloom throughout the summer season and come in a variety of colors.
