Description
It was such a beautiful sunrise over Lake Huron from Mackinaw City, Michigan this summer morning. They sky had colors of orange, yellow, blue, and purple. The IceBreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum is the ship you see as a silhouette. The United States Coast Guard Icebreaker Mackinaw WAGB-83 is also known as "Queen of the Great Lakes" and "The largest icebreaker on the Great Lakes". It was built for World War II in order to meet demands of war materials and transportaion during the winter months. It was decommissioned in 2006 and is now parked at Mackinaw City, Michigan. It is open for tours and events. She had a 62 year career of breaking ice on the Great Lakes and serving as a goodwill ambassador throughout the region.
