Description
As I was watching this beautiful Great White Egret, he started checking out is right wing as if examining it. I took this at Lake Springfield in Springfield Missouri. They only come through this area a couple of times during the spring and fall seasons so they are a sight to see when they are here. The great egret (Ardea alba), also known as the common egret, large egret, great white egret, or great white heron is a large egret, with 4 subspecies found in Asia, Africa, the Americas, and southern Europe. They like warmer climates. They build their nests in trees close to water. It is a member of the heron family, Ardeidae. They are commonly classified with the storks. I took this during the spring season.
