Description
A cannon used during the American Civil War at Leetown Battlefield sits in a field at Pea Ridge National Military Park in Garfield, Arkansas, United States. during this battle, two Confederate generals, Ben McCulloch and James McIntosh were killed. It took an average of 8 - 10 men to fire one of these. It only needed 2 men if they were short men, but there were several steps to get one ready to fire that it went faster with more men. Civil War artillery played an important part during the war. It was used against infantry, fortifications, buildings, and ships. Artillery was limited during the Civil War to firing at targets they could see.
