Description
A capture of Table Rock Dam near Branson, Missouri with all the gates open. A rare occasion in this area, the dam was releasing 52,500 cubic feet per second. A couple days of heavy rain dumped 10 + inches in the Springfield and Branson areas in late April - May 2017 causing flooding through out. Due to the flooding, the Corps of Engineers opened all the gates to drop and control the dangeriously high water level of Table Rock Lake. Unfortunately when they open the gates, it flows into Lake Taneycomo (also known as White River) causing more flooding to homes and busineses along that lake, including the popular outdoor shopping center/attraction, Branson Landing. The water was so high and lots of rain continued off and on throughout May, the gates were still open at the end of May (a month after the initial heavy rain causing the flooding).
