Description
Two younger looking bull elk fight and play on a chilly autumn fall season morning in Boxley Valley, Arkansas, United States. This is located near the small country town of Ponca, AR. It is mating season so the males were very active as they show off for the females. Behind the trees is the Buffalo National River. This is a popular area for elk viewing. Also called wapiti, they are one the largest species of the deer family. Elk range in forest and forest-edge habitats, feeding on grass, plants, leaves, and bark. The males have large antlers which they shed and regrow each year.
