Description
A woman walks across the Joe Dice Swinging Bridge in Warsaw Missouri, United States over Truman Lake on a fall day in the Ozarks. The bridge is also referred to as the upper bridge. It was originally built in 1904 but a tornado destroyed it in 1924. It was rebuilt in 1928 and used for automobile traffic up until 1979 when the Hwy 7 bridge was built next to it. After the completion of that bridge it was open to foot traffic only until it closed due to it's condition in 2000. It was repaired and reopened in 2007. Placed on the National Historical Register on September 17, 1999, the "Upper Bridge" is the last of 15 swinging bridges that once crossed the Osage River linking the Great Lakes with the Gulf of Mexico.
