Description
Looking out a window of the remaining ruins of the CCC House as a rain storm makes it's way to Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas, United States. It is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places. This is near the gravesite area of Petit Jean. Petit Jean is a 3,471-acre park located in Conway County, Arkansas and is managed by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. It is located on top of Petit Jean Mountain in the area between the Ouachita Mountains and Ozark Plateaus. Petit Jean was a young 18th century French woman. When she discovered her fiancé planned to explore the Louisiana Territory, she cut her hair, disguised herself as a boy. She managed to find a position as a cabin boy and was able to survive the voyage. The expedition began their exploration. When they reached the area of the mountain, the young woman became ill, and on her deathbed she revealed herself to her fiancé, so the legend says. She was buried on the mountain, not under her own name, but under the name she had been known by on the ship "Little John".
