Description
A bumblebee lands on this purple flower at a floral garden at Nathanael Greene Park in Springfield Missouri. I believe this is a Salvia plant. There are over 250 species of bumblebees. Most bumblebees are social insects that form colonies with a single queen. Female bumblebees can sting repeatedly, but generally ignore humans and animals.
