Description
A photo of a fire tower and an overgrown prairie area at Runge Nature Center Park. A tall grass prairie is an natural / nature ecosystem. Prairies are great for wild life, regulates tree encroachment, recycles nutrients to the soil, and catalyzes some seed dispersal and germination processes. A Fire Tower provides housing and protection for a person known as a "fire lookout" whose duty it is to search for wildfires in the wilderness. Runge Conservation Nature Center / Park in Jefferson City, Missouri has several hiking trails and exhibits inside their center. There's outdoor landscaping demonstrations and wildlife habitat as well as naturalist guided programs for families, scouts, schools and other groups. It is a beautiful place to just get out and enjoy nature.
