Description
I photographed these two male Blue Jay's on the bird feeder on a cold winter and snowing day. I took this in Ozark Missouri, United States then turned it into a digital painting to create a mixed media art piece. A blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) is a bird in the family Corvidae. They are native to North America and is a resident through most of eastern and central United States. They eat nuts and seeds like fruits, acorns, and sometimes small vertebrates. It typically gets it's food from trees, shrubs, and the ground, though it sometimes catches insects in the air. They are known to hide nuts for to eat later. For bedding, it builds an open cup nest in trees. Both male and female participate in making. Their eggs are blueish or light brown with brown spots. The young may remain with their parents for one to two months.
They get their name from its loud and noisy song and is sometimes called a "jaybird".
