Nancy Brown Peace Carillon Tower on Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan, United States. For more than 75 years, you can still here the sound of the bells from this historic tower. The water is a small lake called Lake Tacoma. The idea for the tower came from readers of Detroit News columnist Nancy Brown’s Experience column. No one ever new her real name as the paper kept her idenity a secret. Her column started in the paper in April 1919. Construction began on the tower in 1939 and it was completed in 1949.
