Description
A capture of Memphis Tennessee from Mud Island Park. Mud Island is a small peninsula surrounded by the Mississippi River and Wolf River Harbor. The park includes a hydraulic scale model of the lower Mississippi River from Cairo, Illinois to New Orleans. The model empties into a pool which is supposed to resemble the Gulf of Mexico. Memphis was founded in 1819 and has an estimated population of 653,450 in 2013. The Greater metropolitan area had a population of 1,316,100 in 2010.
