Locust Prairie Schoolhouse is a one room school located between Strafford, MO. and Fair Grove, MO. and was established on Dec 3, 1853. It served 1st - 12th Grades, however many did not go beyond the 8th grade because they had to help their families with their faring chores. My Grandmother along with her siblings attended this school. This Missouri historical landmark still has the original school desks and fixtures inside. As you look inside, you can just imagine the students and teachers working and studying. Beside it is the school's outhouse. It was reorganized as part of the Strafford School District in the 1950's.
