Description

A black and white photo of lightning filling the sky over Chicago River in Chicago Illinois, United States. I took this from the Lake Shore Drive Bridge. I didn't realize it was supposed to storm so this capture was such an unexpected blessing. The tall building in the center is the 98 story Trump International Hotel and Tower. While I was taking this, it started pouring down rain. We were parked at the far end of Navy Pier, about a half a mile away, and didn't have any umbrellas. The rain was only going to get worse, so we had to run in the pouring rain carrying my camera equipment which was in a big backpack. I used my cotton jacket and my body to help shield it from getting wet. We were drenched but it was all worth it and the equipment survived!
