Description
A photo of a fluking whale tale from a large Humpback Whale in the Atlantic Ocean near Seward Alaska, United States. This is also located in Kenai Fjords National Park. It was so amazing to watch them show off their tales. I love the waterfall coming off his tale. The tour guide said when they do this, they are usually going down into the deep to find food. When they prepare for a deep dive, they arch their back, moving the central part of his body above water to get a better downward angle and then their tale pops up as they go down. The arching gives the whale a humpbacked appearance. The humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) in the baleen whale family. They are one of the larger of the species with the adults ranging in length from 39–52 feet and weighing around 28–33 tons! The males like to sing and can sing for up to 10 - 20 minutes.
