Description
A night time photo with the Gillioz Theatre marquee sign looking down St Louis Street in downtown Springfield Missouri, United States. This is part of the historic Business Route 66 Byway. The theater was built by M. E. Gillioz of Monett, Missouri and opened in October of 1926. The theatre was originally a transition theater, with a pipe organ for silent movies and a stage for live performances, such as vaudeville acts. In 1928 a sound system was installed. Today, they still have plays and shows and it is a 501C-3 non-profit committed to preserving the space and enhancing the quality of life for people in the Ozarks.
