Description
I captured this male Bald Eagle as it was turning around on a branch to face towards me. It fluffed up it's wings and turned around. The female and it's babies were in the next in another tree nearby. The bald eagle is a bird of prey found in North America and is the United States National Bird. Its range includes most of Canada and Alaska, all of the contiguous United States, and northern Mexico. They are found near large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply and old-growth trees for their nests.
They are opportunistic feeders which subsists mainly on fish, which it swoops down and grabs from the water. They build the largest nest of any North American bird and the largest tree nests ever recorded for any animal species, up to 13 feet deep, 8.2 feet wide, and 1 metric ton in weight. Their heads don't turn white until they reach maturity in four to five years.
