Description
A black and white street scene photo of Madison Street in downtown Chicago taken from Millennium Park. Madison Street is a major east-west street. Prior to intervention, the Chicago River emptied into Lake Michigan at the present day intersection of Madison St and Michigan Ave. Per a 1908 decision by Chicago's city council, Madison serves as the north-south dividing line for Chicago's street numbering system. At one point, the intersection between Madison and State was considered the "world's busiest corner"
