Description
I captured this Cardinal eating with two Dark-Eyed Junco Sparrows on a cold winter day in Springfield, Missouri, United States. Cardinals, are from the family Cardinalidae. They are passerine birds found in North and South America. They are also known as cardinal-grosbeaks and cardinal-buntings. the males are a bright red color, while the females are a more faded, softer color of red. The Dark-Eyed Junco is a species of the juncos, a genus of small grayish American sparrows. This bird is common across much of temperate North America and in summer ranges far into the Arctic.
