Description
An early morning view of the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge. The sunrise is behind me casting soft pastel colors in the sky over the cable-stayed bridge. Spanning over the Mississippi River, it connects East Cape Girardeau, Illinois and Cape Girardeau, Missouri, United States. Built in 2004, this bridge replaced the previous 1929 Cape Girardeau Bridge. Highway 74 crosses the bridge. It is named after Bill Emerson, a Missouri politician who served in the US House of Representatives from 1981 until his death in 1996. It was also featured in the movie "Gone Girl" in 2014.
