Description
The American Flag and POW / MIA Flag flies in the wind at a cemetery over Memorial weekend in Humansville, Missouri. The National League of Families POW/MIA flag, consists of a silhouette of a prisoner of war before a guard tower and barbed wire in white on a black field. "You Are Not Forgotten" appears in white along the bottom. It was created for families of American prisoners and those missing in Southeast Asia and officially recognized by the United States Congress in conjunction with the Vietnam War POW/MIA issue, "as the symbol of our Nation's concern and commitment to resolving as fully as possible the fates of Americans still prisoner, missing and unaccounted for in Southeast Asia, thus ending the uncertainty for their families and Nation." The original design was created by Newt Heisley in 1972.
